Choose a sufficient level of SPF protection

You can find information about the current level in the “Weather” application on your smartphone. If the index is more than 2, choose a product with a mark of at least SPF 30 for every day, and SPF 50 – if you are in the sun. It is extremely important to use a sunscreen that protects the skin from two types of rays – UVA and UVB. So, look for a product labeled “broad spectrum.” Remember, UVB rays cause sunburn, which can lead to skin cancer. UVA rays provoke the appearance of wrinkles and age spots.
Choose a formula that is comfortable for you
There are two types of sunscreen formulas that can be used on all skin types: physical and chemical.
- Physical sunscreens, also called mineral sunscreens, are inorganic in nature and contain two important ingredients. It is about zinc oxide and titanium dioxide. They work by creating a protective barrier, scattering UV radiation away from your body. Such products absorb up to 95% of UV rays and leave a white coating on the skin.
- Chemical sunscreens, or organic sunscreens, contain various synthetic ingredients, including oxybenzone, octinoxate, octisalate, and avobenzone, among others. They absorb into your skin like a lotion instead of a thick white and pasty barrier. Such products work by causing a chemical reaction that converts UV light into heat, so it doesn’t cause much damage to your skin.
Focus on additional properties
The best sunscreen for the face and body always contains care components that promote hydration and nutrition. At the same time, it is important to consider your type.
- For dry skin, look for moisturizing components, such as hyaluronic acid. Textures should be creamy or oily, do not contain alcohol.
- For oily skin, sunscreens should be light – in the form of lotion, emulsion, fluid, with a seboregulating effect, as well as the absence of oils.
- For sensitive or problematic skin, choose soft formulas with physical filters to avoid allergic reactions or rashes.
