Prescription drugs: what will change in April
Starting in April, all prescription drugs in Ukraine will be available by electronic prescription, as envisaged by the Ministry of Health. Other medicines that do not require a doctor’s prescription will continue to be available at pharmacies without a special prescription.
Analgesic and antipyretic drugs
The popular painkiller and anti-inflammatory drug Nimesil and its analogues will no longer be available without a prescription.
Medicines against cough
Most popular cough syrups and pills will continue to be freely available, including Mucaltin, ACC, ambroxol-based syrups, ivy extract, etc. All codeine-containing drugs and salbutamol-based medications are available by prescription.
Hormonal drugs
The well-known “emergency” contraceptive Postinor will no longer be available without a prescription.
People who have thyroid disease and take Thyroxin on a regular basis will also have to renew their electronic prescription every time. However, if the patient takes certain medications on a regular basis, the doctor can issue an electronic prescription remotely.
Anti-allergic
Most popular anti-allergic drugs remain freely available: “Diazolin, Loratadine, Suprastin, etc. д. As for Dexamethasone, it will be available only with a prescription, as it is a hormonal drug.
Medicines against hypertension and cardiovascular diseases
All popular blood pressure lowering medications: “Kaptopril, Kaptopress, Bisoprolol are available only on prescription. Even the diuretics Furosemide and Diacarb, which are also used by hypertensives, are available only by prescription.
Corvalol and Valocordin drops are available without a prescription only in small bottles. “Magnicor or Cardiomagnil 100 tablets are available only on prescription.
