Sarin, ammonia, phosphorus and chlorine: How to protect yourself from chemical weapons?
Nadiya Matveeva continues to share valuable advice that will help ensure life in wartime in the section “Reliable advice” on STB. Yes, the TV presenter said what should be the first actions during a chemical attack .
The chemical threat siren is the same as the air alarm siren, only one horn is short and the other is long. If you hear her, then Here’s what you should do right away:
Close windows and doors tightly, seal ventilation holes, cracks if you are at home.
If you are outside, go home. If in a car, close the windows and drive away from the affected area. Ventilation and air conditioning systemners, as at home, should be turned off.
Do not drink or eat anything that was in the chemical attack zone.
If you did not have time to hide and chemicals fell on you:
Remove or cut the clothing, but do not throw it over the head, so that the reagents do not accidentally get on the face. Get rid of your clothes before entering the apartment.
Wash thoroughly with soap (at least 10 minutes), rinse eyes and nose.
Do not perform mouth-to-mouth artificial respiration on the victim, because if the person has already inhaled the gas, it will enter your body.
Turn on the radio or TV for further instructions from the emergency services.
Masks and respirators will not help at all, unfortunately. Because chemical poison is a gas.
The main types of chemical weapons and ways to protect against them:
Zarin
You won’t smell it and you won’t see it. If you hear on the radio or television that it is sarin, try to get to the upper floors or the roof of the building, that is, as high as possible. Call an ambulance if you feel bad, they will give you an antidote.
Chlorine
Psmells like bleach, has a yellow-green color. It crawls on the ground, so you also need to climb to a high point. If you feel unwell, breathe in water vapors. Wash the skin, mouth and nose with a solution of baking soda (take 1 tablespoon of soda for 0.5 liters of water) or soapy water. Drink water and milk with soda.
Ammonia
PEmissions may smoke, smell of ammonia. If you know that he is in the air, go down to the basement, because ammonia is very light. If you were inspired by it, wash your skin, mouth, and nose with water, drip oil into your nose. Moisten the fabric with an acid solution (1 tablespoon of citric or acetic acid per 0.5 liters of water), apply to the face.
Phosphorus
If there is a phosphorus bomb explosion, you will smell garlic and see a bunch of white particles in the sky. They stick and cause very serious burns. Extinguish the poison by watering for a long time or covering with wet sand or soil to prevent oxygen from entering. Remove or cut off the clothing where it is stuck, do not touch it with your hands, only with tweezers (temtemperature of phosphorus is 800 degrees). Wash burns with a solution of soda or cold water, you can’t use peroxide, because oxygen is released, which burns phosphorus. Addput on a wet bandage (not cotton) or keep part of the body in water. Take a sorbent, pain reliever, drink still water or milk.
