5 LED bulbs from the state: how to get
From January 1, every adult Ukrainian will be able to receive five energy-saving LED light bulbs from the state for free.
The initiative will not only relieve the power system, but also help citizens save on electricity bills. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Yuliya Svyridenko stated this.
“This program will start in the new year. There is such a solution proposed by the government of Ukraine – to replace 50 million old light bulbs with new LED bulbs. We presented this initiative to our international partners. And the first to join this initiative is the European Union, which announced that it is ready to finance the replacement of up to 30 million light bulbs for the population of Ukraine”, – said the minister.
She explained that people over the age of 18 can come to Ukrposhta or leave their application on the Diya portal , and then come to the postal operator’s offices and pick up light bulbs for free.
“One person can replace up to five light bulbs in order to save electricity consumption. Because an LED bulb saves 7-8 times more energy than incandescent bulbs. If you look at the structure of electricity consumption in Ukraine, 40% of it is the population. Replacing 50 million light bulbs in the country can save us the work of one NPP reactor,” – said Svyridenko.
According to the minister, this will significantly help energy companies to balance the energy system. She noted that together with Ukrenergo, the government calculated that during the peak load period it is possible to save up to 1.5-1.7 GW of electricity.
