Popular Ukrainian singers VERA and TAYANNA sang a well-known lyrical song about the sacred amulet of Ukrainians – embroidery.

Sung with tenderness and love

The song, which is considered a folk song, but actually belongs to the authorship of famous Ukrainian artists – poet Mykola Soma and composer Oscar Sandler, sounded in a new way in a modern arrangement and in the light of recent days.

It symbolizes black and red threads, separation and love, anxiety and protection from evil. About how Ukrainian women conveyed their support and warmth of soul to their loved ones stitch by stitch on the canvas.

The recording of the song took place at a recording studio, where the singers met for the first time since the beginning of the year and some time after TAYANNA wrote to Vera with an offer to sing together. A touching meeting, strong hugs and all the experienced emotions poured into a sensitive performance.

The cover of the track was created by the careful hands of the embroiderer Sofia Goldman-Manastyrska in the ancient «chain» technique, which was most often used in Bukovina, Hutsul region, Lemkiv region and Sumy region and is one of more than 100 embroidery techniques.

You can listen to the fragile girl’s song «Vysyvanka» in a gentle performance by VERA and TAYANNA right now on YouTube .
