Woman Magazine

On March 25, at 10:10 a.m., Ukrainians will watch a special culinary premiere on STB TV channel – Hell’s Flour with Yevhen Klopotenko. The project is an in-house development of STB and aims to remind viewers in an easy and informative way how diverse and rich in flavors the ancient Ukrainian cuisine is. The project is hosted by Ukrainian chef, restaurateur, borscht ambassador, national cuisine researcher, and winner of the fifth season of MasterChef Yevhen Klopotenko.

“As a nationwide broadcaster, Starlight Media Group and STB TV channel are working comprehensively to develop modern Ukrainian-language content that helps Ukrainians to get to know themselves better as a nation. Last fall, STB supported the national movement to switch to the Ukrainian language in everyday communication and launched the weekly project Nightingale Show.

“Today we see how great the demand in society is to revive knowledge of our traditions and culture. The history of Ukrainian cuisine is a part of our cultural code, which they tried to erase during many decades of Soviet rule. That’s why we created a unique culinary project, Hell’s Flour with Yevhen Klopotenko, which will bring back purely Ukrainian products such as wheat and turnips to our modern life and teach viewers how to cook dishes according to old recipes inspired by our legendary ancestors. For example, borsch with crucian carp is not some strange know-how, but a favorite dish of Taras Shevchenko. And we are very grateful to our partners who, together with us, support this movement in reviving national traditions and help create relevant and popular content,” comments Lyudmila Semchuk, CEO of STB TV channel.

“The emergence of new projects on Ukrainian television during the war is the best evidence of the resilience of our partner TV channels, which do not stop to inspire Ukrainians. I can say with confidence that many brands in the food category have been waiting for a culinary project about Ukrainian cuisine. After all, there are many domestic producers in our country who make products for Ukrainians so that they can enjoy healthy and tasty dishes at home. For example, Dukhmiana Khata yeast preserves and supports Ukrainian traditions, both old and new, and shares all the values with the project to revive our national identity. Another example is the Nasha Ryaba brand, which has been with Ukrainians for more than 20 years.”

“The brand cherishes Ukrainian traditions, but does not stand still – it experiments and finds new meanings in the familiar. Therefore, in synergy with culinary expert and innovator Yevhen Klopotenko, Nasha Ryaba will reveal the unique Ukrainian love for national cuisine. Moreover, “Hell’s Bread with Yevhen Klopotenko” is interesting for integration not only for food producers, but also for advertisers from other categories, such as pharmaceuticals. We are grateful to all our partners for their trust and look forward to the premiere!” comments Anatoliy Pokrovsky, Director of Brand Booster integrated solutions agency.

According to the creators of the project, the host has something to surprise the audience, because Yevhen Klopotenko, as a true researcher of Ukrainian gastronomy traditions, has deep knowledge of ancient Ukrainian cuisine and its history. His favorite Ukrainian stars, including Nadezhda Matveyeva, Dasha Astafyeva, Grigory Reshetnik, Taras Topolya, Olga Sumskaya, Taras Tsymbalyuk and others, will help him in this.

“I’ve been studying food for many years and I know for sure that food is a story of people. It is the culture of families. It is part of the national idea. And everything that grows in our land is uniquely delicious. Because the Ukrainian land is special: a little bit of energy of our people, their love, strength, magic, and black soil, which is like no other. It is this story that I want to share in Hell’s Bread – to cook Ukrainian dishes together with my celebrity guests, to talk about unique Ukrainian products and spices, to learn more about the family traditions of famous Ukrainians from different parts of our country.”

“The project gave us both meetings with old friends and new unexpected acquaintances, we laughed and cried together, but the main thing that united us was food, Ukrainian food,” says Yevhen Klopotenko.

Watch “Hell’s Bread with Yevhen Klopotenko” starting March 25, every Saturday at 10:10. Cook Ukrainian with STB.
