Andre Tan will teach children the rules of the road
Andre Tan has presented a new collection of backpacks for children and teenagers in collaboration with the Ukrainian brand YES, which specializes in bags, accessories and creative stationery. The new line turns the idea of what school bags should look like upside down. According to Andre Tan, the backpacks that children wear to school should not only be stylish and special, attracting attention, but also functional and useful.
The new collection of trendy and colorful backpacks consists of three parts. The first was inspired by the Star Wars epic, which Andre Tan calls the most important films of his childhood.
“When I was a kid, this movie made me dream, developed my imagination – a key skill that helped me change reality, and then came in handy when I started my design career. Chewbacca is one of the most favorite Star Wars characters among children, so we decided to add his furry silhouette as a decorative element. And the handprint on each of the ryuzaks is a symbol of the doors of knowledge that open to the youngest Ukrainians when they come to school,” says the designer.
The second part of the collection is dedicated to the planet Mars. Andre Tan:
“Mars is absolutely my planet, and I am sure that it will be the first planet to be colonized by humanity. Or rather, it will be the work of our children and their children’s children.”
With the third part of the new line, the designer plans to encourage kids to learn traffic rules and make them safer on the roads in general. Each of these backpacks is equipped with reflective elements, which makes a small schoolchild visible to motorists. The QR code on the backpack allows you to learn the rules of the road.
“Super safe portfolios, and I would be happy to give one to my own daughter. Children must be taught traffic rules, so we tried to make learning these rules more adaptive, modern and accessible.”
YES brand: “We are extremely pleased to be working with Andre Tan, he is very knowledgeable about children’s trends. This is our second collaboration, but this particular collection was long awaited. We were preparing its release last year, but the dates had to be adjusted due to the full-scale invasion. Today we realize that life must go on despite the plans of the occupiers, and our children – our future – must get an education no matter what. And we will help them with all our might!”
