7 Hungarian brands that debuted at Milan Fashion Week

After the Central European Fashion Week in Budapest, Hungarian designers presented their collections in Italy. This time, 7 Hungarian brands took part in Milan Fashion Week.

Participants of the joint international mentoring program of the Hungarian Fashion and Design Agency (HFDA) and Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana (CNMI) – ABODI, CUKOVY, KATA SZEGEDI, UNREAL INDUSTRIES, PINETIME CLOTHING, THEFOUR and ZSIGMOND – presented their fall-winter 2023/24 collections from February 21 to 27 at Milan Fashion Week.

PINETIME CLOTHING

Pinetime Clothing is a new technical streetwear brand founded in 2010 in Budapest. The concept revolves around a love of nature and deep roots in board sports, with the aim of bridging the gap between street fashion and classic outerwear brands.

ZSIGMOND

After graduating with a degree in fashion design, Dora Zsigmond became the head designer of Cukovy, a contemporary outerwear brand in Hungary, and worked on the film The Hunter: The Winter’s War” as a costume designer and constructor. In 2014, Dora founded her eponymous menswear brand ZSIGMOND DORA.

UNREAL INDUSTRIES

Premium streetwear: “Our vision is to create a global brand that expresses the ideology of [UNREAL]. We want to break the rules of convention through unique thinking and an ever-expanding incredible mosaic universe created by brand members and our talented, progressive team.”

ABODI

ABODI is the only contemporary haute couture brand based on the heritage of Transylvania, deeply rooted in the vision of designer Dora Abodi, who juxtaposes postmodern references with the magical mythological narratives of Transylvania. Transylvania is known for its dramatic landscapes and rich history, longstanding multiculturalism that has shaped local folklore and given rise to fantastic creatures.

CUKOVY

At the intersection of fashion and functionality, CUKOVY offers contemporary outerwear with a bold and experimental take on practical design. With a focus on high-quality down jackets filled with premium goose down, each jacket is made in Hungary, supporting local artisans.

KATA SZEGEDI

The vision of the Budapest-based label is innovative design for the curious person who is confident and proud of their individual image, who appreciates the expression of originality in everyday life. The love of contrasts is reflected in every piece: inspiration drawn from art, youth culture and urban lifestyle is combined with an emphasis on tailoring and custom fabric development.

THEFOUR

THEFOUR stands for “Thoughtful + Light + Candid + Rebel” in the fashion design universe. The brand’s designers, Anette and Marton, come from different countries but have a multicultural vision. Their creations are a reflection of today’s confusing reality, carrying visual messages that inspire, while neat shapes make it easy to adapt the sophisticated elements of the label.
