A new mural has appeared in the center of Kyiv. The mural “Support” in Podil is dedicated to Ukrainian volunteers who have become real home front superheroes since the beginning of the full-scale invasion.

An art project on the street. 31, as part of the #VlipyZaSebe youth initiative, implemented by GoGlobal in cooperation with the ETER communication agency.

The mural is a kind of gratitude to all the volunteers and activists who help bring our victory closer with their daily work. After all, there is no small amount of help during a war, any kind of participation – moral, physical, and material – is important.

“Every activist is important. Every donor is important. Small actions create the basis for big support, and in this way we are all moving towards the same goal,” explains Tetiana Kovryha, director of the GoGlobal Educational Foundation.

The mural is a drawing of a couple frozen in each other’s arms. Their bodies are covered by the arms of many more hands. These hands symbolize all the charitable foundations and public organizations that have been on the frontline since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, making every effort to help the military, refugees, children, women and animals – in short, everyone who needs it.

As part of the mural project, the #VlipyZaSebe team also held an open vote for the volunteer organizations and foundations that Ukrainians support the most. This list can be seen by pointing the smartphone camera at the QR code on the mural. Among the funds available at the link are UAnimals, United24, Solomianski Kotyky, Building Ukraine Together, Ukrainian Women’s Battalion and many others.

The sketch for the Support mural is based on the work of the famous Canadian artist and illustrator Eric Pause, which has a very symbolic title “Without You, I Don’t Exist”: just as the country would not exist without mutual assistance and support from the front and the rear. Eric is an active supporter of Ukraine and was happy to provide one of his popular works for a mural in Kyiv.

“I am glad that my work resonated with the thoughts and vision of Ukrainian artists. I am sincerely glad that in this way, in my own way, I can support Ukrainians,” says Pause.

Eric’s sketch was realized by Ukrainian artists and everyone can already see the spectacular mural in Podil, which symbolizes the unity and support that have long been an integral part of our lives.#VlipyZaSebe is a youth initiative whose team has been creating strong ties between young people, civic activists and the volunteer movement in Ukraine since the beginning of the full-scale invasion.  How to be useful? How to help those who are already helping? Where can I find out more about those who are supporting the country now? The answers to all these questions, as well as many others that are interesting to young people, can be found on the #VlipyZaSebe resources.
