Pedan, Vitovska, Sugar – about eco-habits that protect the environment

eco-habits: Alexander PedanEvery year, on the last Saturday of March, the world holds an event called Earth Hour. On this day, people symbolically turn off the lights for an hour in their homes and workplaces. This is how they try to devote at least 60 minutes of their attention to the planet. The stars of the New Channel are convinced that environmental issues are worth much more than the time and effort spent. So, here are the eco-habits of the stars that will help save the environment.

Irma Vitovska, actress of the TV series “Moloda”

“I try to sort my waste. But it’s a shame when you see all your sorted waste being piled into a garbage truck and taken in one direction – to a landfill. People are ready to sort, but we need to provide more opportunities for this. And different garbage cans are not enough,” Irma Vitovska is convinced. “Also, since 2007, I have consciously refused to wear natural fur. When my son was six years old, he took part in his first civil protest, FurOFF. He drew a tiger and wrote on a poster that we should not wear fur. We also, of course, save water and electricity and don’t litter. This is the law in our family. I pay attention to packaging and avoid plastic. It is better to give preference to glass, paper and cardboard. Unfortunately, it’s not possible to avoid plastic items completely. We need manufacturers to offer more alternatives to such packaging and containers.”

Oleksandr Pedan, host of the New Channel projects and the educational travel show “UniverCheck”

“To be honest, I still haven’t learned how to sort garbage and haven’t managed to set up a micro-sorting station in my apartment. But I teach my son to throw garbage in the trash. Sometimes it even happens that while walking down the street, Marik can pick up a bag and hand it to me, saying: “This plastic kills hedgehogs.” I want to pass on this habit to the younger generation. And also to mention that Ukraine now has a big problem with the environment because of our enemy, who destroys everything in its path: land, plants, animals. Including unique species. Unfortunately, I don’t know how long we will be engaged in the restoration of flora and fauna… Also, with each explosion, a lot of harmful substances are released into the air, which we then breathe. So the best thing that can happen in the world now is the destruction of the Russian Federation and its principles. This will improve not only people’s lives but also the environment in general.”

Michelle Andradehost of the travel show “Eagle and Reshka. Earthlings”, participant of the show “eVopytannya” on the New Channel

“Over the past year, the topic of an eco-friendly lifestyle has become very relevant to me. Now I live in Europe, where they sort garbage. And I learned how to do it too. It’s about helping people not to do unnecessary work and preserving nature,” says  Michelle Andrade. – I like to watch documentaries on Netflix (for example, Our Planet). They increasingly raise the topic of global warming, ocean and air pollution. It’s sad. After all, we are not guests on the planet. This is our home. We take off our shoes in our apartment and keep it clean. We must protect the environment globally. Cultivate eco-habits. To be honest, I still use bags in stores, but if there is an eco-friendly bag, I will always choose it – I feel more comfortable because I am a participant in a good cause. I also really like it when eco-habits are fostered at the corporate level. This is how it used to be in our MOZGI office. We sorted the garbage and hung special signs above the bins. Convenient and easy.”

Celebrity eco-habits: Yulia Shugar, actress of the TV series “Moloda”

“I have a few rules: go shopping with an eco-bag, don’t buy plastic bags and avoid plastic. My biggest motivation in terms of ecology is my grandchildren. I don’t want to set my descendants up for a lot of environmental problems. That’s why we need to take care of them through the conscious use of resources,” says Yulia Shugar. “Industry is growing every day, and humanity does not have time to dispose of waste. The world is overwhelmed with things because of the mass market, which creates new collections every season. I think that sharing things is a great topic. I adore it! My closest friends and I often do this. The purpose of such an exchange is, first of all, spiritual unity. But it’s also good for the environment. If you can combine business with pleasure, why not?”
