Volodymyr Zelenskyy arrived in Paris on Wednesday evening. He had a closed-door dinner with the leaders of France and Germany.

At Orly Airport, Volodymyr Zelenskyy was met by a guard of honor and French Minister of the Armed Forces Sebastien Lecorneuil. He then went to the Elysee Palace, where he met with Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.

“I want you to remember that France and Germany have been with Ukraine these months. We have been through a lot – from last February to this February. We have ensured strong unity – ours and Europe’s. We have strengthened the continent. We have strengthened Ukraine. Now we are all running out of time. And this is not about today. This is about the weeks and months ahead of us. This means we need the weapons we need. We need it to strengthen our common positions – Ukraine and all Europeans,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.

Macron confirmed that he wants to “accompany Ukraine to victory and peace” and that Russia cannot and should not win.

“We will also insist that war crimes committed by Russian soldiers be punished,” Macron said.

Prior to the meeting, the German Chancellor emphasized that from the very beginning of the war, partner states, including Germany, had been providing financial, humanitarian and military support to Ukraine. Among other things, Olaf Scholz noted the strengthening of the air defense system and the supply of tanks to our country.

At the end of the meeting, Emmanuel Macron presented Volodymyr Zelenskyy with the Order of the Legion of Honor – the highest award of France conferred by the President.
