Decisions of Volodymyr Zelenskyi that inspire not to give up
Today, January 25, is the birthday of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy. On this day, the head of state celebrates his 45th birthday. On the occasion of the holiday, Woman has compiled a selection of the President’s political decisions that encourage Ukrainians and the world not to give up in the fight for freedom and democracy.
Dissolved the old parliament
Already during his inauguration on May 20, 2019, Zelenskyy announced that he was dissolving the parliament and that new elections would be held two months later, in late July. On June 20, the Constitutional Court of Ukraine made a final decision to recognize Zelenskyy’s decree dissolving the Verkhovna Rada as constitutional.
Staying at home
Volodymyr Zelenskiy refused the US offer to flee Kyiv on the first day of the invasion. Zelensky acted boldly and became the bravest president in Europe.
Agreed on modern weapons for the Armed Forces of Ukraine
From the first days of the war, the President of Ukraine began actively negotiating to strengthen the army. To do this, it was necessary to establish the process of supplying weapons, and NATO countries became Ukraine’s main partners.

The course to NATO
During his speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos, President emphasized that Ukraine’s accession to NATO is one of the priorities and security guarantees for Ukraine.
“We realize that we are not yet in NATO. And, unfortunately, Russia also understands this and is fighting against it, so that, God forbid, this path is short. But I realize that we are on this path, NATO is the best guarantee of security for Ukraine,” – Zelenskiy said.
United 24
Volodymyr Zelenskiy initiated the creation of the United 24 platform. It is a resource through which people from all over the world can support Ukraine. Dozens of Ukrainian and international stars have already become ambassadors of this initiative. Namely: Andriy Shevchenko, Elina Svitolina, Oleksandr Usyk, Liev Schreiber, Imagine Dragons, Barbra Streisand, Timothy Snyder, Scott Kelly and others. To date, more than $274 million has been raised.
Constant communication with the public
Since the first day of russia’s full-scale invasion, Volodymyr Zelenskiy has been recording video messages to Ukrainians. Despite his enormous workload, he finds time every day to inform citizens about the state of affairs in the country and plans for future activities. His addresses on holidays are especially touching. Thus, all Ukrainians were riveted to their screens closer to midnight on December 31. Of course, the President was delivering a traditional New Year’s speech. And this year, it was impossible to listen to and watch the President’s video address without crying.
“I would like to wish us all one thing now – victory. And this is the most important thing. One wish for all Ukrainians. Let this year be a year of return. The return of our people. Soldiers – to their families. Prisoners – to their homes. IDPs – to their Ukraine. Return of our lands. And the temporarily occupied will be free forever. Return to normal life. To happy moments without curfews. To earthly joys without airborne anxiety,”- he said.
