Olena Zelenska talks about lower salaries for women at the UN
At the UN, Olena Zelenska raised the issue of gender inequality in wages in Ukraine. This is an important step towards improving the situation of women in the labor market. Wage inequality remains a serious problem not only in Ukraine but also in many other countries around the world, and it needs to be addressed immediately.
According to statistics cited by Olena Zelenska, women in Ukraine have higher education in greater numbers than men. However, their salaries are lower, and this inequality becomes especially acute during military conflicts, when women take on additional responsibilities and risks.
Ukraine’s plan to eliminate this inequality by 2030 is an important step. In particular, the already approved action plan for 2023-2025 is designed to help implement the necessary changes. These measures include important items such as overcoming stereotypes and discrimination based on gender, improving legislation, and creating conditions for a more convenient combination of family and professional responsibilities.
These steps can contribute to a more just and equal society, where women and men have equal opportunities in the labor market and can develop their careers on equal terms.
