Budapest extends free travel for Ukrainians
The Budapest Transport Center has extended free travel for Ukrainian citizens who were forced to leave their homes because of the war. The service was launched on March 4, 2022. It will be valid until December 31, 2023.
The service is available for refugees who have an official Ukrainian travel document:
- Ukrainian international or domestic passport
- Residence permit in Ukraine
- Student card of a Ukrainian university for foreign students studying in Ukraine
- Any document confirming the registration of foreigners residing in Ukraine
Documents confirming the right to free travel will continue to be accepted on BKK routes, with the exception of:
- Airport Express 100E
- Funicular
- Nostalgic routes
- Ferries
- HÉV services outside of Budapest
- “Blue” buses outside Budapest
