GoGlobal: volunteers from all over the world support Ukrainian children
The GoGlobal Educational Foundation has launched free language clubs run by foreign educational volunteers from all over the world. The volunteers communicate with the children exclusively in English and introduce them to their cultures, the geography of their own countries, history, cuisine, holidays and traditions. And the children tell them about Ukraine.
The students and their volunteers made traditional Swiss chocolate, explored Indian music and Inca history, danced salsa, and learned about Ukrainian communities in different countries. And now the volunteers are coming up with new activities for the children!
“GoGlobal’s speaking classes are more than just an opportunity to learn English. We had a great time! Our volunteer supported us and continues to do so! Speaking clubs are a great place to learn English, communicate freely, meet new people and create!” Anastasia.
“I’m very happy to be a part of the speaking clubs, I’ve learned a lot about other cultures and other lifestyles.” Julianna.
“My friends and I learned a lot of new and unusual things about other countries, and it was interesting to talk about Ukraine as well.” – Anastasia.
Speaking Club is a format that GoGlobal will implement on a regular basis.
“The main goal of all GoGlobal’s work is to help a new generation of young Ukrainians realize their potential, to provide them with the necessary tools, skills and soft-skills to rebuild Ukraine the way they want. English is one of the most sought-after tools, and we have been promoting it since the very beginning of our work. The GoGlobal Speaking Club is an in-house project of the GoGlobal educational foundation, designed to show Ukrainian children all the possibilities of English as an international language,” says Tetiana Kovryha, director of GoGlobal.
According to her, the first wave of conversation clubs includes 1,200 children and teenagers from all over Ukraine, 88 schools and 90 teachers in the project. The GoGlobal Speaking Club has been joined by 35 volunteers from 21 countries: The United States and the United Kingdom, EU countries, Morocco, Algeria, India, Mexico, Brazil, Saudi Arabia, and others. Many of the volunteers have been working with Ukrainian children since 2015, and the volunteer teachers were especially active in supporting Ukrainian children at the beginning of the full-scale invasion.
The second wave of the Speaking Club will start very soon – dates and other details will be posted on GoGlobal’s social media pages.
