The coronavirus pandemic is officially over

The pandemic lasted 3 years. WHO Director-General Tedros Adanom Ghebreyesus has announced the end of the COVID-19 emergency regime, which has been in place since 2020, in the world.

“Yesterday, the emergency committee held its 15th meeting and recommended that I declare an end to the public health emergency [regarding COVID-19] of international concern. I have agreed with this recommendation,” the WHO head said at a briefing in Geneva, agreeing with the relevant recommendation of WHO experts.

“It is with great hope that I announce the end of COVID-19 as a global emergency,” Gebreyesus said.
