Olya Polyakova presented a new concert program in Kyiv
On March 8, Olya Polyakova presented 2 big solo performances at the Parkovy Exhibition and Convention Center, where she presented a brand new program in 100% Ukrainian, called “Everything will be fine”. The show was directed by German Nenov.
Both concerts were held at the soldier’s outpost and were charitable in nature – part of the proceeds will go to a pickup truck for the military near Bakhmut, 3rd Border Guard Detachment 1st Air Force unit 9938 and to targeted assistance to internally displaced persons, who are being helped by the NGO “IDPs of Ukraine”.
The first to see the singer’s updated repertoire were the military, medics, volunteers and employees of the State Emergency Service, for whom admission to the daytime concert was free.
Polyakova ‘s entire program is permeated with the theme of war, heartbreaking footage from the front, and personal stories of Ukrainian defenders, which have become an integral part of each issue. All of Polyakova’s previous Russian-language hits were not only translated, but also transformed, both musically and ideologically. Among them are the trademark “Slaps”, which in a humorous and sarcastic way ridicules “orcs whose heels have scattered across the beds”, “Paradise on Earth” (formerly “Ice has broken”), “Number 1” about Ukrainian defenders, “Magic Eyes” (formerly “Long-Legged Happiness”) and others.
Particularly noteworthy is the track “Hold Her” dedicated to Oksana Balandina, a doctor who lost her limbs during the shelling, and her husband. The singer was so impressed by the girl’s personal story that she decided to sing about her in a song. The violin part of Hold Me was performed by military violinist Moisei Bondarenko, who is known for playing the instrument in hot spots.
The audience was surprised to see the legendary marine and defender of Mariupol, Mykhailo Dianov, take the stage and thank every Ukrainian for their daily work, dedication and support of the Ukrainian army.
The new program “Everything Will Be Fine” will become the basis for Olya Polyakova’s all-Ukrainian tour, which will start with concerts in Dnipro and Kamianske on March 11 and 12.
