Today, December 21, the world’s most popular locations will turn off their lights as a sign of solidarity with Ukraine as part of the #LightUpUkraine campaign.

About this  the press service reported  Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.

In particular, the Roman Coliseum and the Sydney Opera House, the buildings of the EU institutions in Brussels, the Scottish Parliament in Edinburgh, and the Paris and Porto city halls will turn off their lights. Also the main Christmas trees of New York near Rockefeller Center and London in Trafalgar Square. And also – in Prague, Riga, Sofia, Wroclaw, Turku, Vilnius, the famous Toronto TV tower.

In total, more than 60 world-famous locations will turn off their lights today as a sign of solidarity with the people of Ukraine. And they will also call on their visitors to join the collection for generators for Ukrainian hospitals. The action takes place against the background of President Zelensky’s visit to the United States, where they will discuss comprehensive support for Ukraine during a full-scale war.

The #LightUpUkraine campaign aims to collect through a fundraising platform  UNITED24, started by President Zelensky – $10,000,000 for the purchase of generators for Ukrainian hospitals.

It is worth noting that the legendary New York Carnegie Hall was the first to join #LightUpUkraine — the lights were turned off there on December 4, 2022, during a concert in honor of the 100th anniversary of the Ukrainian Christmas tune “Schedryk”.

In general, on December 21 at 20:00, 62 locations in 19 countries will turn off the lights.
