1+1 anchor Marichka Padalko is celebrating her 20th anniversary this year – 20 years of work on Ukrainian television. She began her career with news about sports, then hosted “Breakfast”, a children’s program with Yuriy GorbunovMarichchyn Kinozal “, she was the presenter of TSN for 16 years, and since the end of February started working as a host of the marathon “Edyni novyni” from 1+1. On the morning of February 24, it was Marichka Padalko and Yehor Gordeev who were the first to announce from the screens that the full scale war.

Marichka Padalko shared two of her photos on social networks – 20 years ago and the present. Subscribers congratulated the presenter and noted that she has hardly changed during this time. For example, Oleksandr Ponomaryov jokingly commented:

I think it’s the temperature of the room during sleep . Other than hairstyles , didn’t look around! Marichko, what is the temperature in the room when you sleep ? “.

In contrast to these photos, television itself has changed during this time, as Padalko says:

“At that time, 20 years ago, television had a monopoly on information and entertainment (I mean movies and series). Just then I started and hosted a program about sports. Why did so many people watch this program then, because there was a very popular TV series at the same time. The whole country was watching him. At that time, the whole country received news mainly from television. But over the past 20 years, there has been such a diversification of sources of information that now television must make efforts to remain relevant, especially for young people.”

How the role of the presenter has changed

During this time, not only television has changed, but also the role of the news anchor.

“Presenters now need to work not only for the hour allotted to them on the air, but to work 24/7, to be that person who will inspire trust, attract attention and who will be a source of information not only on the air of their TV channel, their program, but in general “.

Marichka Padalko emphasizes that the presenter’s work does not end when the broadcast on TV ends. Now the presenter lives in this role all the time.

“How you live off-screen and what you do outside the studio is just as important, and sometimes more important, than what you do in the frame. All your actions are absolutely known to people, you cannot hide them. The modern world needs maximum openness. But not everyone is ready for this,” says Marichka.
