The Tennis Development Fund of Ukraine will train the children of the war who were left without parents
At the beginning of the academic year, the Tennis Development Fund of Ukraine, with the support of the Kyiv Tennis Federation, launched a project to rehabilitate war children and orphans with the help of a professional tennis training program. Classes will be held by professional coaches, and famous Ukrainian tennis players and champions will also share their skills and experience with the children, including Serhiy Stakhovskyi, Orest Tereshchuk, Mykhailo Filima, Andriy Medvedev and others. Training will be held at the base of the TennisPark club in Kyiv.
The first wards of the project will be children from Svyatopetrivska and Tarasivska communities of Kyiv region, who were left without parents during all 8 years of the war.
“Initially, our foundation was created for mass popularization and development of tennis in the regions of the country where most children do not have the financial opportunity to train, ” says Dmytro Verkhovskyi, general director of the Tennis Development Fund of Ukraine. — But in the conditions of the war, it was decided to help those children who suffered the most from Russian aggression. Among our wards, we plan to identify the most talented and give them the opportunity to try themselves in professional tennis.”

Funding for children’s training and their sports equipment was made possible by charitable contributions from the foundation’s team, tennis fans, businessmen and philanthropists. For this purpose, a special charity event was organized, which took place in a restaurant in Kyiv “Veranda on the Dnieper” . Among the guests, Vyacheslav and Iryna Dyudenko, Pavlo Shilko, Demetrio Felice, Oleg Strelnikov, Svitlana Sverdlikova, Serhii Samusev, Gennadiy Zubko and others were present and contributed.
“Thanks to our friends and partners, we managed to collect the first 130,000 hryvnias, so in the next three months, 23 orphans will learn the first skills of playing big tennis, and maybe one of them will become a real star of Ukrainian tennis in the future.” — said Valery Zakharov, ambassador of the Tennis Development Fund of Ukraine.
