Elena Kostevich won her fourth Olympic medal
Ukrainian athlete Olena Kostevich won her fourth Olympic medal.
The 36-year-old athlete, paired with Oleg Omelchuk, won bronze in air pistol shooting.
“First of all, I would like to thank my partner Oleg Omelchuk, as well as our coaches and the team who have been there for us along the way. I am grateful to all of Ukraine, as well as my native Chernihiv region, for the wishes of success and words of support that we continue to receive here in Tokyo. I remember very much the admonition of our outstanding athlete, Olympic champion Sergey Bubka, who a few days ago after my “wooden award” advised me not to worry and believe in myself. These words helped in winning this bronze medal,” shares Elena.
Kostevych became the fifth Ukrainian Olympian to win honors at three games. She won a gold medal in 2004 and took home two bronze medals in 2012.
“Another victory of our Olympians! Ukrainian tandem Elena Kostevich/Oleh Omelchuk won a bronze medal in the mixed team competition in air pistol shooting at a distance of 10 meters. Sincere congratulations! We are proud of you!”, – Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky joined the congratulations.
