Ukrainian defenders star in sensual video by Olya Polyakova
The defenders of Ukraine starred in a sensual video by Olya Polyakova. On the eve of the Independence Day, the singer presented a new video work, which is a symbol of gratitude to all those who, throughout the long war, bring Ukraine’s victory closer every day with their work and courage. The music video for the song “Thank You” brought together a large number of defenders with whom the singer is personally acquainted. Doctors, military, volunteers, rescuers. Some of the characters’ faces are familiar to the viewer, while others will be seen for the first time, and they will be able to express their sincere gratitude.
The video for Olya Polyakova was shot by a well-known Ukrainian film director Katya Tsaryk. The singer offered a song that, according to the video maker, did not leave her indifferent.
“The thing I liked most about this song is that the word ‘Thank you’ is used in it. This is something I think about all the time. In this terrible period of life for all of us, we always need to find something to be thankful for and whom to thank. I’m very excited about this music video and I’m glad that Olya invited me to do such a very frank and cinematic work. For me, it’s a great experience, and it’s probably the only topic and the only style that I’m ready to work in now,” comments Katya Tsaryk, the director of the video.
The idea for the video was born instantly. The footage shows the faces of ordinary people who inspire. Every wrinkle and subtle human emotion reveals the history of the struggle. The video work is made in the style of black and white photographs and keeps the attention until the last frame with its visual laconicism.
In turn, Olya Polyakova surprises the viewer with an unusual and radically different image from the stage: she appears emotionally frank, vulnerable and tender – the image is harmonious and holistic.
Polyakova herself admits that in her video for the song “Thank You,” she gave the first place to the defenders of Ukraine. Thus, in the new video, the viewer will meet Olga Zaitseva, a volunteer who helps with evacuation from the war zone, Natalia Leliukh, a gynecologist and medical volunteer, Yevhenia Emerald, a military sniper “Joan of Arc” who starred with her daughter Athena, and Anastasia Tyha, an animal volunteer, Valentyn Naumenko, a special forces soldier with the call sign “NAUM” who worked in Olya’s team before the war, actress and volunteer Yaryna Hordienko, actor and animal rights activist of the Bearded Cat Mama Oleksiy Surovtsev, and Mykhailo Dianov, a Ukrainian soldier and defender of Mariupol, with whom Olya shares a friendship and the Unbreakable project, military volunteer Svetlana Legka, DTEK energy specialist Oleksandr Pirogov, rehabilitation therapist at the Okhmatdyt Children’s Hospital Nazar Borozniuk, and volunteer and daughter of fallen Hero of Ukraine Dmytro Koverega, Kateryna Koverega, call sign “Angel”.
Poliakova is convinced that every work produced during the war is priceless because it has fundamental meanings and reinterpretations.
