Renting a house: the rules are changing in Turkey
The Turkish authorities have issued a new regulation that changes the rules for renting out housing. Now the rental agreement has new clauses.
Before starting to rent an apartment, the owner must obtain the consent of all owners in the building. If everyone agrees, you will also need to hang a sign at the entrance stating that the accommodation is for rent to tourists. Those looking for long-term foreign tenants will have to obtain a special license from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. This should be done before entering into an agreement.
It is no longer possible to sublet housing. All violations are subject to fines ranging from $3,500 to $35,000.
