New school year in Ukraine: learning formats
The new school year will begin on September 1, 2023. Oksen Lisovyi, head of the Ministry of Education of Ukraine, said that students will have the opportunity to receive education in different learning formats.
Educational institutions will operate in three main modes: on-site, remote and mixed. The mode of education will be determined and agreed upon at the level of regions and districts by local authorities (LEAs) and school principals.
Parents will be able to choose the learning format that best suits their children. If the desired number of students and teachers cannot be accommodated in an educational institution, taking into account sanitary standards, a system of offline shift classes will be introduced. However, primary school children are recommended to study in a face-to-face format for better socialization.
We emphasize that the format of the training may vary depending on the environment and security situation. In the event of air raids, the educational process will be suspended until the threat is eliminated. The details of the structure and duration of the students’ working day will be determined by the pedagogical council of each institution separately.
The new school year will be marked by flexibility and consideration of circumstances to ensure safe and effective learning for all Ukrainian students.
