Sean Penn to star in a Ukrainian movie

American actor Sean Penn, who supports Ukraine in its war with Russia, will star in the movie War Through the Eyes of Animals. About this reported The Hollywood Reporter. The film tells about the war in Ukraine from the point of view of different animals. 

The director will be Myroslav Slaboshpytsky. Penn will play an American sound engineer who accidentally witnesses the beginning of a full-scale war when Russian forces invade Ukraine on February 24, 2022.

“I am very happy to be a part of this movie. It is a great honor for me to work with an incredible actor, an outstanding person and one of Ukraine’s greatest friends, Sean Penn. He was with us during the February 24th attack and explores the war in Ukraine in his documentary. His support is invaluable to us and cannot be overestimated,” said Slaboshpytsky.

The project is being produced by the Ukrainian companies SOTA Cinema Group and Kleos Art, and produced by Oleg Kokhan and Oleksiy Makukhin. 

“All the stories in our film almanac are based on real events, and it is very important for us that foreign artists of such a high caliber as Sean Penn share with us this terrible reality that we reproduce on the screen. This emphasizes the relevance of the topic of ecocide in Ukraine, because every bullet, every rocket fragment, every drop of fuel that pollutes our land is a slow-acting chemical weapon that destroys the ecosystem not only of Ukraine,” says the film’s producer, Oleg Kokhan.
