Ukraine celebrates Europe Day instead of Victory Day for the first time

Europe DayOn May 9, 2023, Ukraine will celebrate Europe Day instead of Victory Day for the first time. The day before, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a decree to that effect.

“Today I signed the relevant decree, and every year from tomorrow, May 9, we will honor our historical unity – the unity of all Europeans who destroyed Nazism and defeat racism,” said the Ukrainian president in his address on the occasion of the Day of Remembrance and victory over Nazism in World War II of 1939-1945.

In addition, it is proposed to establish May 8 as the Day of Remembrance and Victory over Nazism in World War II of 1939-1945.

Many countries celebrate Europe Day with events aimed at raising awareness of European integration and unity. These activities can include flash mobs, concerts, exhibitions, sports competitions, seminars, and other events.

Also on Europe Day, demonstrations and marches are held in many countries to show support for the idea of unity and cooperation between European countries.

In some countries, this day is a day off, and people celebrate this holiday with family and friends, spend time outdoors, cook national dishes, and celebrate together.
