Unfortunately, the full-scale war has not only failed to stop fraudsters, but, on the contrary, has given rise to new scams. Olena-Kristina Lebid, host of the project “Scammers in the Networks” on New Channel, revealed a scheme in which fraudsters pretend to be military personnel to get money.

“I think the scheme can be called ‘I am a soldier of the Armed Forces on rotation’. The scammer “feeds” the victim for two months. For example, he goes for a haircut in a chosen beauty salon. Or he visits only a certain cafe. The main thing is to be a regular customer for at least a month,” says the TV presenter. – The fraudster imitates “military” calls, talking on the phone about the deployment of troops, the reorganization of the division, and so on, creating the impression that he is a soldier of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and a high ranking one at that. During haircuts, for example, he tells his hairdresser (usually a woman) that there are big problems with the work now, challenging her and other masters to a revelation.”

The purpose of such a conversation is to find out if the interlocutor’s husbands/brothers/acquaintances have problems with work. And if a woman says that a loved one is out of work, the scammer immediately offers to help with a vacancy for an office security guard. They say he has connections.

“The scammer says the job is easy and the salary is high. In the end, he takes money from women who want to get their husbands a job like this, allegedly for a gun permit. “It’s a must for a security guard,” says Olena-Kristina, “And then, a week later, he takes another amount, allegedly to register weapons in the names of specific people. As a result, the victim transfers about 12 thousand hryvnias! Just for the show with the phone and ‘military’ talk and empty promises.”
