“The International Legion. Freedom without Borders tells the stories of brave volunteers who joined the ranks of the Ukrainian Armed Forces to defend the independence of our country.

Originally from Scotland, Harry has been aware of Russia’s war against Ukraine since 2014 and joined the Legion in early March 2022. He speaks very clearly about Russians:

“Since I came here, I realized that they don’t care who they hit. It does not matter to them that there are civilians in the cities, they just open fire. For them [Russians], human deaths do not matter. We are doing our best to save people and help them.”

Legionnaire Eric believes that the main problem with Russians is their ego. They will never be able to accept their defeat in Ukraine:

“Obviously, they are not fighting NATO troops. Their egos could take a defeat from NATO, but they cannot take a defeat from Ukraine.”

Pen is in his early 20s and from Greece. At first he wanted to volunteer, but when he saw with his own eyes what was really happening in Ukraine, he took up arms and joined the Legion. Peng urges us not to neglect the misfortunes of others and to always look for opportunities to help:

“War will not always happen somewhere far away, on the other side of the world. It can happen to your country, to your city, to your people. And when that happens, you may not be able to take care of yourself. Therefore, you will most likely ask for help from others and expect to be helped. So, if you can, help others.”

Max left his studies in his native Brazil to join the struggle for freedom in Ukraine and the entire free world:

“Given what I saw here, this is war crimes and genocide. Because they are bombing civilian targets where there are no military. There is no doubt that Vladimir Putin must be held accountable for this.”

Previously, Michal served in the Polish Armed Forces. The fighter plans to return after Ukraine’s victory:

“The more weapons Ukraine gets, the sooner the war will end. Look at the problems people have in Ukraine, how badly the industry has suffered compared to European countries. Supporting Ukraine is just paying 10% more for milk or bread. This is nothing.”

The Legion soldiers are convinced that the world should continue to support Ukraine, as this is a matter of democracy and freedom for the whole world, not just one country.

The authors of the film express special gratitude to the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine.
