What to do if you are under the rubble - tips from the SES - 1 - изображение

The State Emergencies Service told what to do if you are under the rubble.

CALL FOR HELP

  •  Try to shout, give signals. During minutes of silence” arranged by rescuers to hear people trapped under the rubble, shout and give signals as loudly as possible;
  •  If you have a mobile phone and communication nearby, call your family or 101 to let them know where you are;
  •  If no one can hear you, first assess the situation around you;

HELP YOURSELF AND OTHERS

  •  Try to gently release your arms and legs. If a part of the body is pinned by a piece of debris and it is impossible to free it, immediately start massaging the body part above the pinned one. This is necessary to maintain blood circulation and save the limb;
  •  It is extremely important not to move the ceiling or beams on which everything is held. So do not try to dismantle the debris around you on your own;
  •  If you managed to get out, examine yourself for injuries and wounds. If possible, provide yourself and others with first aid;
  •  While waiting for rescue, try not to get hypothermia (if there is some clothes nearby, try to wrap yourself in it).
  •  Do not use matches or lighters: this may cause an explosion;
  •  If you realize that you do not have the strength and ability to get out on your own, continue to call for help and wait for rescuers;
  •  If you are spotted, remember that it takes time to get you out. Try to calm down and wait for help.
