Gold awards: Ukraine updates its record at the 2022 Paralympics

Paralympic Games 2022

The Ukrainian national team has updated its record for the number of medals won during a single Paralympic Games.

Before the final two days of the 2022 Paralympics, Ukraine had 25 medals. This figure was a repeat of the record: in 2006 and 2014, Ukrainian Paralympians won the same number of awards.

Ukraine managed to set a new record with three medals in cross-country skiing. One of them turned out to be gold: Aleksandra Kononova won the middle distance race, updating the record for the number of golds for the second time.

The absolute leader in the number of medals for Ukraine is Oksana Shyshkova, who has won five awards (three of them gold) and leads the standings of multi-medalists at the 2022 Paralympics.

However, our athletes can still improve their medal tally at the 2022 Paralympics.
