“Druha Rika to play two big concerts in Kyiv and Lviv

June 24 in Kyiv and August 12 In Lviv, Druha Rika will play big solo concerts with the program “SUPERNATION 2013-2023”. It is significant that the Kyiv concert will take place in the Stereo Plaza concert hall, where the band presented their album Supernation 9 years ago. In Lviv, the musicians will perform at the !FESTrepublic club. Part of the proceeds will go to the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

On the eve of the concerts, to demonstrate the strength and resilience of the Ukrainian people, Druha Rika launched a flash mob, which consists of a video of their superpowers by followers on social media using the hashtag #SUPERNATION2023. The winners of the flash mob will be invited backstage at the concerts in Kyiv and Lviv, and more details about the conditions can be found on Druha Rika’s social media: Instagram, Facebook and TikTok.

“I was inspired to mention Supernation by several people who “unexpectedly” heard our “new songs” on the radio and TV. What has been obvious to the DR since 2014 was surprising to them. But my friends were sincerely surprised that the songs were written 9 years ago. Although war is not the main theme of the Supernation album and these songs were not heard in 2014, they spoke to the relevance of war-inspired songs. We haven’t written a single song about Bayraktar since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, we were shouting about it much earlier, but unfortunately, music editors and society were not ready to hear songs that were too “politicized and unnecessarily”. Today we want to look back into history, to point out the cause and effect, so that such a war will never return.“.

The main content of the concerts will be the songs from the album Supernation, work on which began in 2013 with the song “Forever/NaNaMaNa”. The album’s songs are sharply critical of the authorities and reveal naked feelings of martial law, and the tracks “I Hear” and “Who Else but You?” sound like an instructive conclusion and a verdict of indifference in today’s realities.

The concerts will also feature Druha Rika’s favorite hits in the traditional Druha Rika sound that fans miss while the band is on tour with an acoustic program. 

The musicians note that the purpose of performing on the 10th year of the confrontation between Russia and the 2nd year of the full-scale war is not just to entertain and cheer up, but to give a boost of energy and strength for further struggle.
