Singer and TV presenter Volodymyr Dantes presented a new song and video “Whales” – they became part of the EP KITY. The mood of the album is real life without embellishments: past and future, where the singer is as frank and real as ever.

The song “Whales” was born very spontaneously at a rehearsal.

“Together with Ihor Kyrylenko, a sound producer, we wrote music at his studio. He just started strumming the chords of an old song I had once bought, and I started humming the melody. After re-arranging it, I started writing the lyrics the same day. In reality, it looked as if my subconscious was just spitting out words: I didn’t know why or what I was writing about. And only when Dasha played this track for my mom did my mom cry, because she was the first to realize what my subconscious was saying.” said Volodymyr Dantes.

“Whales” is a song about Volodymyr’s father, about his childhood in Crimea, about happy moments together and dreams. When Volodymyr was a young boy, he and his mother and father always went to visit his grandfather and brother in Crimea for 20 days, the same number of days his father was given to rest.

“There I learned to swim, jump into the water, do somersaults. These are the happiest of my memories. My father passed away a long time ago, when I was 22. That’s why the words ‘cramp in my head’ are just about him, because my father suddenly had a stroke.” – says the artist.

Both the song “Whales” and the video, directed by Yulia Paskal, are subconsciously very personal songs about the inner state and about childhood, about the father, about everything that lives inside as fragments of memory. The water in the video symbolizes life, and the whales are an allegory of the eternal on which the world rests.

The KYTY mini-album includes songs that the artist has given new life to in Ukrainian, such as “Sad Dances” and “Sasha”, and several new tracks: “Whales,” “Raising Children,” and “To Be With You *^.^*” and others.

“There are more serious songs, and there are funny and silly ones that I used to put aside. But suddenly I thought: why? It’s my album, and I can write anything here. It’s me and my music – somewhere it’s serious, somewhere it’s a little silly, just like me 🙂 It doesn’t follow the canons, just like in my life. And then I give the album to the listeners’ discretion – whether they want to listen to the EP or not. Although I really hope that most of these tracks will make you smile and feel warm inside.” Volodymyr shared..
