Shmyhal: Ukrainian Armed Forces counteroffensive may begin in summer

Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal said that the long-awaited counteroffensive of the Ukrainian Armed Forces could begin as early as this summer. He said this to the American edition The Hill on the eve of his visit to the United States. 

“In an exclusive interview, Shmyhal said that a counteroffensive could take place as early as the summer, noting that the greatest pressure to launch a counteroffensive comes from within (society – ed.) Ukraine,” the publication notes.

He also added that everything should be ready for a counteroffensive in all positions:

“All our friends and partners clearly understand that in order to launch a counteroffensive, you need to be one hundred percent or even more prepared for it.”

The head of government also emphasized that Ukraine will liberate its lands in any case.

“We have repeatedly proved that we can do this. We are asking our international partners for more military capabilities, such as tanks, ammunition, aircraft, and armored vehicles.”
