Flag Day of Ukraine-2022: history and facts

Flag Day

Every year on August 23, on the eve of Independence Day, a holiday is celebrated in Ukraine – Flag Day.

The national symbol was approved in 1992, and the flag day was started in 2004 by Leonid Kuchma:

“In honor of the centuries-old history of Ukrainian statehood, the state symbols of independent Ukraine, and with the aim of fostering citizens’ respect for the state symbols of Ukraine, I decree to establish the Day of the State Flag of Ukraine in Ukraine, to be celebrated annually on August 23,” the Decree read.

It is believed that blue is a symbol of the sky, and yellow is wheat. Although there is a version that the yellow-blue version also had the right to exist.

Nowadays, the flag has acquired a special meaning, and many of those who are now forced to be outside the borders of Ukraine often find a native combination of colors in unusual things.

The I SEE UA FLAG page is well-known on the Instagram network, where users can send photos in yellow and blue colors. We have collected the most creative ideas for you.
