Nino Katamadze has a triumphant performance in Kyiv

Nino KatamadzeOn April 28 and 29, the Parkovy Exhibition and Convention Center hosted sold-out charity concerts by the prominent Georgian jazz singer Nino Katamadze. The program of Nino’s performance included both her star hits “Once In The Street”, “Olei”, and brand new songs that captivated the audience. A special moment was the performance of “Chornobryvtsi” in the original arrangement by  – the only song in the singer’s repertoire that she performs in Ukrainian, which touched everyone present.

The star was happy to communicate with the guests, circling the hall and inviting the audience to sing with her. One of Nino’s concerts was attended by Jamala, with whom she has a long-standing friendship. Nino left the stage to join Jamala and the audience enjoyed a virtuoso and very sincere jam session from the two divas, and then the Ukrainian singer took the initiative, singing: “Nino, I love you” and “Nino, we all love you” – and then the whole audience supported her.

The concerts were opened by Natalia Nakopia, a young Georgian singer. Her performance was a pleasant surprise for the audience,  she was very warmly received by the audience. Natalia writes in several languages, including Georgian and English. Her music is an interesting combination of different genres and styles – a mixture of modern rhythm and blues, pop music, Georgian and foreign folk music.

“It’s very important for me to be here and perform my first concert in Ukraine, because this way I can demonstrate all my love and support for Ukraine. I’ve been here many times  in Kyiv, Lviv, Odesa – it’s my favorite country,” Natalia said.

This money and part of the proceeds from the concerts will be sent to the CF “For Luhansk Region” and the NGO “IDPs of Ukraine” and will be used to help the Georgian Legion soldiers defending Ukraine,  and to reconstruct apartments for families from Bakhmut and Luhansk region.

At the end of the second concert, Nino Katamadze addressed the Ukrainians:

I’m looking for words that are filled with love, which my friends, all of Georgia, all of Sakartvelo asked me to convey to you, so that you always know that we are here for you! For us, it is Glory to Ukraine, it is Glory to Sakartvelo! Ukraine’s victory is Sacartvelo’s victory!”.
