Ukrainian singer TAYANNA presented the track “Run” together with the band NaviBand from Belarus.

NaviBand is a band from Minsk that represented Belarus at the Eurovision Song Contest in Kyiv in 2017. In 2020, during the active protests in Belarus against the Lukashenko regime, the musicians were forced to leave the country because of their political beliefs and were granted the status of “banned artists.” Today they are actively touring Europe and raising funds to support Ukrainians affected by Russia’s full-scale invasion.

NaviBand met TAYANNA last year: their acquaintance quickly grew into a friendship and a desire to do something together. With the outbreak of the war, the idea to create a song only intensified, and when, after months of trying, the right words were finally found, “Run” was born, with TAYANNA as the author of the Ukrainian part of the lyrics.

“When I heard the first drafts of this song, I cried for half the night. At that time, I was in a state where I wanted to listen only to my soul, to run as far away from people’s advice as possible. I wanted to trust my heart. NaviBand also felt this on their part, and we shared these emotions. I’m generally impressed by their inner depth, so this song very accurately reflects our common feelings – and I hope it will be understandable to every person in the free world. After all, its orientation and mood break through the language, and can be read even by those who do not understand Belarusian,”-  says TAYANNA.

“Run” is a symbol of inner freedom. A song that has a special energy, a natural code. It is about what unites us all. About the kinship and common roots of humanity at a higher level. Tanya and I sing about universal love, a language that everyone in this world understands. And we hope that love will eventually win and reign on our planet again,” –NaviBand commented.
