Ukraine will receive the first tranche of €3 billion from the European Union in 2023 this week. This is part of the macro-financial assistance package totaling EUR 18 billion. This was reported in the Twitter Vice President of the European Commission Valdis Dombrovskis.

I have the honor to sign a memorandum of understanding with the European Union to provide Ukraine with up to EUR 18 billion in loans in 2023. The first disbursement of 3 billion will be received later this week. This will allow Ukraine to cover the most urgent needs, having a stable flow of funds throughout the year, he wrote.

In turn, the Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal wrote in Telegram:

Ukraine and the EU signed a memorandum of understanding on the provision of EUR 18 billion of macro-financial assistance in 2023.

He confirmed that the first tranche of EUR 3 billion is expected to be received this week.
