Dubai International Airport (DXB)<\/p><\/div>\n

Dubai is planning a huge expansion of its airports. By 2050, Dubai’s “second” airport will be able to serve up to 250 million passengers<\/a> a year.<\/p>\n

Dubai International Airport<\/a> (DXB) is one of the busiest international travel hubs in the world. In the first half of 2023, it handled 41.6 million passengers, which is more than in the same period in 2019.<\/p>\n

In the future, the airport will become even busier: reconstruction is planned for the next 5-7 years at a cost of \u20ac1.5 to \u20ac2.5 billion. According to Dubai Airports CEO Paul Griffiths, DXB will reach 120 million passengers per year within 15 years.<\/p>\n

As a result of DXB’s overhaul, the airport will have additional lounges, check-in desks and seating, as well as new security scanners that will lift restrictions on the transportation of liquids in hand luggage.<\/p>\n

Once DXB reaches its maximum capacity, Dubai’s second airport, Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC), will take over the baton and become “the largest airport in the world,” according to the new plan. DWC currently serves approximately 1.6 million passengers a year. In the first phase of the project, the airport’s capacity will increase to approximately 130 million passengers per year, and the territory will expand to 56 square kilometers. By 2050, the number of passengers could grow to more than 250 million.<\/p>\n
