The project&#8217;s host Lesya Nikitiuk and her team traveled around Ukraine under martial law and met our resilient people. And in February 2023, they set off on a new journey! This time we visited Kharkiv, Mykolaiv and Kherson regions. Since February 24, 2022, the air raid has sounded more than 1700 times in this region. The longest of them was 17 hours, and the total duration of the air raids was almost 60 days,&#8221; says Lesya Nikitiuk. &#8211; During the full-scale <a title="Woman Magazine Link" href=\"https:\/\/womanmagazine-npp.com\/2023\/03\/26\/aktor-viiskovyi-dmytro-arkhipov-pro-svoi-ekozvychky\/\">war<\/a>, all life in Kharkiv moved underground from the squares and streets. The subway has saved thousands of Kharkiv residents. On February 24, Kharkiv subway trains stopped running, and city residents ran to the station to hide. There were also people who walked a distance of up to 15 kilometers along the subway tracks. They were getting to the train station to leave the city.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><a title="Woman Magazine Link" href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/lesia_nikituk\/?hl=ru\">Lesia<\/a> met with Yulia, the head of the Heroiv Truda station, who told her about the life of the Kharkiv subway in February and March last year.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_170708\" style=\"width: 1376px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img title="Woman Magazine - 0" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-170708\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-170707 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/womanmagazine-npp.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/28.03_Le%D0%9C%D0%B0%D1%80%D1%88%D1%80%D1%83%D1%82%D0%BA%D0%B0_%D0%A5%D0%B0%D1%80%D0%BA%D1%96%D0%B2_%D0%BC%D0%B5%D1%82%D1%80%D0%BE-1.jpg\" alt=\"LeMarroute Kharkiv metro\" width=\"1366\" height=\"768\"><p id=\"caption-attachment-170708\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">LeMarroute Kharkiv metro<\/p><\/div>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;On February 24, we had about 1,500 people sleeping overnight, and on February 25, 2,000 or more. And that was just at one station! In general, the Kharkiv subway became home to tens of thousands of city residents,&#8221; the woman says. &#8220;Some people went down into the subway on February 24 and left only in May, when trains started running. Imagine, some people did not go outside for a month and a half. It was very scary. Volunteers worked with them. Together with the kids, we did physical education, played and drew.
