Energy systems in Ukraine have been seriously damaged due to regular powerful massive missile strikes by Russia. Therefore, almost the entire country suffers from intermittent power outages. People have to sit without electricity for several hours every day. 1+1<\/a> presenters Timur Miroshnychenko, Solomiya Vitvitska, Yuriy Gorbunov, Svyatoslav Grynchuk, Nelya Shovkoplyas, Yehor Gordeev<\/a> told what they do at home during blackouts.<\/p>\n

 <\/strong>Timur Miroshnychenko<\/strong><\/h4>\n

\"Vitvitska,<\/p>\n

First, my wife and I have become very sporty, because we live on the 23rd floor with two small ones. Mia goes up and down by herself, Marko is partly on the back or in the arms of one of the parents. Secondly, we began to communicate more with friends who are not in our blackout group (smiles). So we visit each other according to schedules. Thirdly, the children are constantly inventing something: they arrange a trick-or-treating evening for us (tickets are issued, Inna and I leave the room, they get ready, then they invite us to the show). We have stand-up and vocal evenings at home.<\/p>\n

 <\/strong>Nelya Shovkoplyas<\/strong><\/h4>\n

\"Vitvitska,<\/p>\n

When the lights go out, we take out all the candles we have, light garlands, take out the tables and most of all sit in the kitchen and play board games. We got even those that we had already forgotten about, but which were interesting to our sons at one time, and now we are restoring this tradition again. We play “Memories”, “Lotto”, “Uno”, “Monopoly” – but “Monopoly” requires more people, so we get it when the company is big. Or we lie together with the little ones in our arms, talk about something of our own, tell each other some stories, fairy tales.  We have such warm and soulful evenings at home.<\/p>\n

 <\/strong>Svyatoslav Grynchuk<\/strong><\/h4>\n

\"Vitvitska,<\/p>\n

I try to adjust all my activities to the schedules if I am at home. When the lights are turned off, I can go for a short walk, or to the nearby shops, where there is definitely light. The stove in the apartment is gas, so I can cook a little in the dark to pass the time. Just when they started to turn off the lights – the first season of the series “House of Dragons” ended. It turned out that we have a book at home from which it was filmed, so sometimes now in the dark I connect a lamp to a power bank and read next to it. Especially when, in addition to the light, the mobile Internet disappears and then there is nothing else to read. During the first few days of the blackouts, I was thinking of trying to adjust to them so that I would go to bed every time when it was dark and then wake up when the lights were turned on, even if it was in the middle of the night. But this plan immediately failed, then he could not fall asleep in time, then there was no desire to wake up.<\/p>\n

 <\/strong>Yehor Gordeev<\/strong><\/h4>\n

\"Vitvitska,<\/p>\n

When the lights are turned off, I usually read. I never got used to e-books – I only take them on the road, but not at home – I read paper ones. There is something romantic about it. I have two favorite bookstores – one in Kyiv, the other in Lviv, I regularly shop there. It often happens that I have not yet “fulfilled the plan”, that is, I have not read the ones I bought earlier, but I am already going to buy new books. And now, when it’s blackout at home, I light candles or turn on a battery-powered lamp and read. Actually, I just finished reading “Radio Night” by Yuriy Andruhovich. And I will reread Hermann Hesse’s “The Bead Game”. I consider Hesse one of the coolest authors in the history of mankind.<\/p>\n

 <\/strong>Solomia Vitvitska<\/strong><\/h4>\n

\"Vitvitska,<\/p>\n

When the lights are turned off at my house, I talk on the phone, because the mobile connection remains. Or I go to bed or watch movies on my phone. Netflix and Premium YouTube allow you to download files even when there is no normal connection. I still plan to find a battery-powered lamp and then I will read. I also bought a speaker, so now I can listen to music.<\/p>\n

 <\/strong>Yury Gorbunov<\/strong><\/h4>\n

\"Vitvitska,<\/p>\n

Ever since Danylo started walking, our favorite game at home is hide-and-seek. And they look even cooler in the dark. When there is no light, I read “History of Ukraine” by Yaroslav Hrytsak. Children listen to audio fairy tales that I recorded several years ago in a children’s project. Even if the lights are turned off, we still have mobile internet, so Ivan and Danylo can watch cartoons or play games on the iPad. But there is a generator in our town, so we have problems with light, but rarely.”<\/p>\n
